Bombasta Hosts
“Vatos Locos Por Vida”
A Night of Diverse Chicano Music
At Sam’s Burger Joint
Saturday, March 21st, 2009

San Antonio, TX- San Antonio’s own ‘barrio big band,’ Bombasta, will be hosting a night of diverse Chicano music, which they’ve dubbed “Vatos Locos Por Vida” at Sam’s Burger Joint on Saturday, March 21st, 2009. The night’s event will feature performances by the San Anto conjunto/punk rock hybrid- Pinata Protest, the brown eyed soul of Corpus Christi’s own- Duke E. Brown, and the cumbia fussion sounds of Bombasta. This performance will celebrate and highlight the diversity and innovation that exists within the central Texas music community, as all of the performers incorporate a wide range of influences and genres into their own unique and signature sounds.

Local ‘cumbia-mixmasters’, Bombasta, have long established themselves as forerunners in the burgeoning Latin Alternative genre and continue to tour the region and perform locally to a wide and appreciative audience. They continue to build unique and memorable events locally, in attempts to expose the city to a wide range of talent and are always trying to bring the community together through music, verse and dance. The accordion driven punk rock group, Pinata Protest, has recently been making waves of their own in both San Antonio and Austin. Pinata Protest will be in attendance at this year’s SXSW showcase in Austin and have recently performed for the Myspace Latino “En Tu Ciudad” Tour in Austin. Their mix of conjunto and punk rock always brings a crowd to their feet and are sure to keep you moving throughout the night. Joining the two homegrown acts will be Corpus’ own Duke E. Brown, who perform a horn-backed mix of Chicano Soul, R&B and Blues. Duke E. Brown is a group of exceptionally talented musicians and have shared the stage with some of the greats, inluding B.B. King, Dr. John, The Ohio Players, Morris Day and the Time, and Los Lonely Boys.

Join us on March 21st at Sam’s Burger Joint for what is promising to be a great night of music, culture and dance with musical groups that are deffinitley “Vatos Locos Por Vida.”
